The mark of a believer is the mark of joy. It’s the kind of mark, the good kind, that will stay forever and never leave. And faith holds the mark in place and reminds us of the love of Jesus.
The first advent gave and still gives us immeasurable joy, telling of his endless love for us. And here we are, so many hundreds of years and generations later, celebrating our gratitude for that advent.
We light the candles and remember that his promises are true. We wait in hope, peace, and joy. We wait and in the wait we fix our eyes on Jesus. And if we give space for gratitude to do its job, our hearts lock on to joy.
Joy is the realest reality, the fullest life, and joy is always given, never grasped. God gives gifts and I give thanks and I unwrap the gift given: joy. – Ann Voskamp
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy 1 Peter 1:8
God, thank you for filling us with your joy and flooding our hearts with light. May we hold tightly to joy in the good times and the hard times. As we fix our eyes on you, may our lives shine bright this advent season.
